The Hilton Hotel Corporation commissioned Dan Strothers Fine Art to create an artwork for one of the boardrooms at the new West Palm Beach Florida hotel that has recently completed construction. This was announced in a previous posting on this website along with the image of the artwork. The artist visited the hotel recently and took a picture of the installed piece. He wanted to share it with the visitors of this website. The artwork is entitled “The River Hilton” and is a diptych measuring 60″ wide x 42 ” high. It is a wooden abstraction made of burl wood and highly figured maple with colorants and a high gloss finish.
Sarasota, Florida artist Dan Strothers‘ most recent work entitled “Red Sky” is one of his new generation wooden abstractions which feature a textured matte surface. The dark brown burl wood and the red and brown wood on top contrasted against the black center makes for a dramatic abstract. This artwork measures 74″ x 30″.

Florida artist Dan Strothers uses his decades of experience to transform the exotic woods on the panel to the left into an abstract body of water entitled “A Bridge”. Teal blue “water ripplets” with a deep brown burl wood center “bridge” accented with yellow spots makes this wooden abstraction soothing to the soul. Measuring 74″ x 30″, it can be hung either vertically or horizontally.
Most of Mr. Strothers’ previous works have featured resin topcoats which have produced very smooth and glossy finishes. This next generation of artworks do not use the resin topcoat and have a more textured surface while still being smooth to the touch.
